The 12th round in La Liga starts with a game between Elche who failed to win their last 4 league games although having a great start for the newly promoted team and Real Sociedad that have recently found form and were unbeaten for the past 4 games.
In this piece I will focus on some tactical insights for Elche in their build-up and some of their key players individual performance.

Elche will always have their goalkeeper (Dituro) between both their defenders during build up, which makes them have an extra man, only Oyarzabal on 3 Elche players triggering Guedes to press on Affengruber.

When Guedes is triggered into pressing Affengruber, Nunez is free to receive the long ball from Dituro, Nunez will be a player we talk about a lot in this game.

Here in this example Guedes puts Nunez behind his back this time then presses Affengruber.

Aguado takes a few steps to the front to take Soler away from him creating a space in the center.

Nunez movement in the central space, unmarked makes Brais Mendez take a few steps towards Nunez and just these few steps are more than enough for Dituro to make the pass for Febas and just like that Elche have beaten the press.

Similar case here as well, Nunez inverts in the space to leave Soler between two players not being able to know who to mark except Sociedad’s Guedes reacts differently.

This time Guedes drops to help Soler with marking both Febas and Nunez but the solution was so simple and easy from Elche, Affengruber opens wide receives the ball baits Guedes into pressing him again.
